Excellent wine list and wide selection of craft beers!
Drunken Monkey Bar – Manuel Antonio
When we visited, the was Club Karma, formerly Cockatoo and now ‘The Drunken Monkey’. Imagine dancing barefoot in the sand, waves crashing in the background, and a community that feels like family.
While beachfront hotels are limited due to environmental protections, the views from the hillside are nothing short of spectacular.
2) San José – The Capital City
San José, Costa Rica’s lively capital, is the heart of the country. Oxygen Jungle Villas
Oxygen Jungle Villas is one for the adults-only, offering an intimate jungle-side escape in a tranquil Uvita location.
Wake early to the close sound of howler monkeys, seizing the day with a hiking, whale watching or diving exhibition, followed by a spa treatment or relaxing dip in the infinity pool in the company of Javanese gods and goddesses and ocean views. From local staples like gallo pinto (rice and beans for breakfast, anyone?) to international flavors, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Accessibility and Transportation
Getting around San José is pretty straightforward.
There is an on-site restaurant, lounge and pool bar.

Gay Hotels in Costa Rica (& Gay Resorts)
Costa Rica has an impressive number of gay owned, gay friendly and just outright gay hotels and resorts on offer.
This beach town isn’t just beautiful—it’s gained the title of being the “Best Gay-Friendly Beach in Costa Rica.” Many resorts here cater to LGBTQ+ travelers with special packages and events. Rise early for yoga on the elevated yoga deck or opt for an in-room massage before biking to the laidback village of Las Catalinas and kayaking in the bay. Finca Rosa Blanca
Another of the best places to stay in Costa Rica is the Finca Rosa Blanca, this time elevated in the highlands above San Jose as a hidden eco-resort among mango trees, coffee bushes and all manner of wildlife.
But if you don’t mind a bit of rain, visiting during the “green season” (May to November) can mean fewer tourists and lush, vibrant landscapes.
And if you’re in San José in June, don’t miss the main Pride event—it’s a celebration you won’t want to miss!
Top LGBTQ+ Events in Costa Rica
If you’re looking to experience Costa Rica’s vibrant LGBTQ+ scene, you’re in for a treat.
It’s more secluded, which makes it a favorite for LGBTQ+ travelers looking for a peaceful spot to unwind.
Jaco Beach
Further up the coast, Jaco Beach is gaining a reputation as an LGBTQ+ friendly destination. However, you choose to spend the day, return to the resort at the sound of the gong for pre-dinner cocktails at the Moroccan-styled restaurant.

It is recommended to check with each specific resort for any special offers or promotions they may have available.
Can I request special accommodations or services for my stay?
Yes, you can usually request special accommodations or services for your stay at these resorts. However when it comes to gay destinations in Costa Rica both its capital city, San Jose and the coastal town of Manuel Antonio are on equal footing.
A third option to explore is Puerto Viejo, however please don’t restrict your travel to these places alone, I felt comfortable everywhere during our trip to Costa Rica.
GaySan Jose
If you are flying to Costa Rica, you are likely to be flying in to San Jose.
