- Marginal Way is a must, walk this 3-mile shorefront pedestrian walkway that connects Ogunquit village to Perkins Cove.
However, Ogunquit is not as remote; it’s about 90 minutes from Boston and less than a half-hour from Portland. They also host great cabaret shows.

Comes complete with a convivial lounge and cocktail bar. The cliffs, the white sands, the evergreens—they all demand that you put away your cares and enjoy the moment. Supposedly the name means “coastal lagoon.” But it’s more like Ogunquit, as in “Ogunquit my job and live out my days here.”
It’s often called Maine’s answer to Provincetown, so let’s compare, contrast, and move on.

Getting Around
- Beach Caddies from Ogunquit Beach n Sport will will pick you up from your hotel, guesthouse or cottage and drive you to your Ogunquit destination. Great for a long walk during low tide. Head to Section “G” of the beach where the activities are held.
Contestants parade in front of the judges, run down to the Gulf of Maine/Atlantic Ocean, and then jog back up to the judges while glistening for their final review to hopefully place in categories like Best Buns, Best Package, Best Legs, Best Chest, Best Personality, and Best Overall.
Christmas by the Sea
A charming event celebrated on the second weekend after the Saturday following Thanksgiving.
DJ music before and after the show. Perkins Cove – One of the Top 10 places to dine with a view! Great lunch spot—technically in York, 15 minutes south of Ogunquit.

- Bread and Roses Bakery – Comfy bake shop offering cafe fare, java drinks, pastries & custom cakes in quaint surroundings.
The cottage maintains its original character while offering updated kitchen & bathrooms – The best of both worlds! The beach is quite big, so even when it is busy, there is plenty of space to spread out. Great food, friendly atmosphere and great live entertainment.
- Maine Street – The town’s late night venue! Watch the sunset, cook a nice meal in the welcoming kitchen, grill on the patio or read a book in the quaint, picturesque backyard….the options are limitless.

Lobster boats bring fresh catch to their door.
While the nightlife will certainly keep you busy, Ogunquit’s star attraction are its pristine beaches.
The gay beach, “Section G”, is easy to reach.
Friday and Saturday gay piano bar and lounge, with shows. Attracts the best names in drag during Summer months. The sand is beautifully soft.
Ogunquit Independence Day Fireworks
July 4th at 9.15pm at Ogunquit Main Beach, between the tidal flow of the Ogunquit River and the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll find that everyone is friendly and helpful, homos or otherwise.
But people don’t come for the nightlife, since the daytime is when the real romance kicks in.
Shop for locally made jewelry and crafts, before catching lunch at one of the waterfront bistros for a bowl of chowder or lobster roll.
There are promontories, picnic benches and a lighthouse along the way, more photo opps than you can count so keep the camera/phone handy.
